The theme last week for the “Men of Integrity” e-mail daily devotions produced by Promise Keepers Canada was “Called to be a Giant Killer”. Each day addressed a different “giant” each man must slay if he is to live a spiritually successful life overseeing his family, work, etc.
One particular day’s devotional addressed the life of David, King of Israel. Prior to David being crowned king, he went through a training ground of sorts, learning lessons that would one day be sometimes violently applied as he ruled Israel. Early on in that training, he learned perhaps his most important lesson leading up to his kingly rule: Change your thinking, change your world.

"Change Your Thinking, Change Your World"
The author of the devotional, Jason Clark, (Surrendered and Untamed: A Field Guide for the Vagabond Believer
) mentioned that this shift in David’s thinking came in 1 Samuel 16. His mindset went from “I am a shepherd” to “I will be a king.” Simple and profound… subtle but life-changing. What was on the inside was manifested on the outside.
- He changed his attitude, which changed his actions.
- He changed his belief, which changed his behaviour.
- He changed his convictions, which changed his conduct.
It was this decision, along with his reliance on the power of God, that allowed David to be shielded from all of the proverbial arrows his enemies flung his direction.
Bottom line: What subtle change in your thinking will you make to change your world? Your thoughts are welcome below.
