Archives For Videos

If you’ve never seen the What Are You Living For? video by Francis Chan, you’re missing out. This video explains the very essence of why I seek to apply the tagline of this blog to my daily life: Live Deliberately.

With such importance of subject matter, while at just over 4 minutes long, it’s one of those videos that you don’t have the time not to watch.

As Francis mentions, no one’s guaranteed tomorrow; so, live deliberately today and watch this:

Social Media Video 2013

Erik Qualman, author of Socialnomics: How Social Media Transforms the Way We Live and Do Business, has updated his popular Social Media Video for the upcoming year.

This series of videos has often been shown by speakers and instructors to create awareness in companies, organizations, and people on the topic of social media.

(Thanks to www.webmatters.com for the heads up.)

I saw this video, Validation, for the first time last night from a re-post (The Gift of Validation) on Michael Hyatt’s blog. He writes:

Validation. Everyone needs it. Hardly anyone gets it. Yet it is the very thing that most people crave. More than sex. More than money. More than drugs.

Ultimately, our validation has to come from God. Parents, bosses, spouses, and even friends will disappoint us. They have their own issues. But God is the one Person who is wholly other-centered. He made us in his image and delights in us. He stubbornly loves us even when we are unlovable. If that’s not validation, I don’t know what is.

So while I want to look to God for my own validation, I want to be a validator to others—a reminder of God’s good intentions toward them. I want to affirm that God is for them not against them. That His plans for them are good. That He has given to each person I encounter unique gifts, talents, and strengths. May God give me the grace to see it and acknowledge it. This is leadership in action. Continue Reading…

In this video RayDeck3 (100 Ways To Be More Creative) talks about why it is so important to have high quality presentations in ministry and how to make presentations more engaging. This has become a subject that is increasingly on my mind of late. I trust this video is encouraging to you as you prepare future presentations.

The Thumb Test

March 23, 2012 — 5 Comments

If you’re not familiar with Jon Acuff, I think you should be. He’s one of the most humourous, thought-provoking, and engaging presenters of our time. He is the Wall Street Journal best-selling author of Quitter and Stuff Christians Like and a member of the Dave Ramsey team.

In a recent blog post of his, he shows a video of himself explaining something he calls The Thumb Test. The basic premise is that you ought to be able to hold your thumb up in front of an area of your blog or some other material that is unique to you and the rest of it should still speak about you on its own.

This is a well thought out idea and one that deserves a lot of attention from those starting out with a blog, book or some platform, myself included. I just saw this last night and I have already taken these thoughts to heart. Continue Reading…
